Former K24 TV anchor Isabela Kituri has made a comeback in the industry by joining the Nairobi Bureau of British owned media station British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The reports were confirmed by lead presenter at BBC Swahili Roncliffe Odit. The veteran journalist will join the likes of Anne Ngugi who also work at the Nairobi Bureau.

Kituri was part of the journalists fired by Mediamax Network Limited on May 21, 2020 as a measure of curbing redundancy.

Others who were also fired include Sam Njoroge, Rose Gakuo, Fred Indimuli, Eric Njoka, Karen Karimi, Nancy Onyancha, Caren Kibett, Shon Osimbo, Sara Adams, Joy Kariuki, Joab Mwaura and Tony Khwalanda.

Reports indicated that the news anchors were let go after they opposed the 50% pay cut imposed by the company during the Covid-19 pandemic.

During her time away from the cameras, Kituri embarked on consultancy services such as Public Relations and Branding for corporates and companies. Furthermore, she focused on her Youtube channel dubbed I_am_Isabela_Kituri in which she showcases different recipes for parents to cook for their infants.

A notable moment during the anchor's tenure at K24 was when she experienced a labour scare right in the middle of presenting news. The incident mirrored a stunt pulled by former Citizen TV news anchor Jamila Mbugua on her counterpart Hussein Mohamed during a live show.

She, however, took to social media to confirm that she experienced false contractions known as Braxton Hicks.

The journalist is known for her proficiency in the Swahili language and has worked in the industry for more than 18 years.

Kituri spent her time perfecting her craft at KTN before jumping ship to the Mediamax owned station, K24. The sassy veteran in past interviews has also expressed her desire to pursue politics in the future.

Passionate about gender equality, Kituri stated that she would opt to run for a women representative seat in her home area in Taita in order to help the girl child.
