Former Senator of Machakos Johnson Muthama has hit back at Kalonzo Musyoka after the two clashed during the burial of AIC Bishop Bernard Nguyo in Mitaboni, Machakos County.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke on Friday, February 12 a visibly angry Muthama addressed the former vice-president saying that he will expose his private life.

Muthama criticised Kalonzo for dragging private family affairs into the public domain during a church ceremony.

“If it is about politics let us do politics, me and you, and compete in politics but let us not bring our families into politics,” Muthama said.

The former senator went on to say he divorced Agnes Kavindu - the Wiper candidate in the Machakos Senatorial by-election - but they had children together. He added that the utterances made by Kalonzo hurt the children yet they had nothing to do with the political world.

Muthama adds that he housed his ex-wife in one of his homes since 1983 until she moved out recently as an act of courtesy to his children.

The former senator added that he respected the wiper leader as a Kamba leader and also as a diplomat.

He went on to say that Kalonzo was been ungrateful yet he funded the Musyoka's party while he was still the party and supported him to be the vice president of Kenya.

During the funeral, Kalonzo made remarks that touched on Muthama’s ex-wife, Kavindu.

“After next year you will see Muthama running back to me. He knows where we are and where we are going. Even if he goes up and down, I will give him back his wife and tell him she is now a senator,” Kalonzo said.

Muthama rose from his seat and charged towards Kalonzo but was restrained by MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town) and Patrick Makau(MP Mavoko)

Kavindu hopes to clinch the seat once occupied by her ex-husband with the wiper ticket. Muthama on the other end is supporting Urbanus Ngengele running on a UDA party, supported by DP Ruto.

The race for the Senatorial seat has been seen by many to be a race between Kalonzo Musyoka and Muthama in determining their political dominance in Ukamabani.
