Peter Mugure, who is accused of murdering his wife and two children, appeared in court virtually on Wednesday March 17 where he submitted an application to represent himself in the case.
Mugure settled at the decision after changing and dumping lawyers representing him three times including Cliff Ombeta, Kimani Njuguna and Kariuki Runo.
He appeared before Magistrate Florence Muchemi where she is expected to rule on whether or not the former army officer will represent himself on April 21.
This is the first time since December 2019 when the case is being heard with several adjournments caused by lack of legal representation.
Mugure is accused of killing his wife Joyce Syombua, his daughter Shanice Maua and his son Prince Michael in October 2019. The three went missing after they visited him in Nanyuki.
Magure who was stationed at the Laikipia Airbase confessed that he picked the three from the bus station and took them home where they spent the night.
According to police reports the three remained at the airbase until the next day when they went to Kirimara Springs Hotel.
Later that night, Mugure met with Collins Pamba at his house where the two carried the three bodies and buried them in a shallow grave in Kilimo area.
Pamba told the police that Mugare had promised to get him a job at the Kenya Defence Forces in exchange for helping dispose of the bodies.
Mugure alleged that he killed his wife because she cheated on him.
