Homicide and Crime Scene detectives have unearthed new details regarding the murder of National Lands Commission official Jennifer Wambua.

Detectives revealed that Wambua received 58 strange calls before her murder. A senior detective privy to the investigations noted that the calls are linked to the cases Wambua was involved in as a witness.

Wambua's body was found dumped in Ngong forest on Saturday, March 13 hours after reports indicated that she had gone missing.

According to the police, Wambua's phone signals had been traced to Ngong forest, where the body was ultimately found.

Detectives are analysing the calls to identify the registered owners of the mobile telephone numbers. Wambua's lawyer and Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo also revealed intricate details during his last meeting with the deceased.

"She said she had cases coming up, where she would be cross-examined, and felt that they were burdening her," he stated.

Maanzo noted that something seemed to weigh heavily on her mind but she didn't disclose it. They agreed to set up a meeting but she went missing on the day they were to meet.

The homicide detectives also retrieved and reviewed CCTV footage at the NLC offices where Wambua was last spotted moments before her disappearance.

Besides the footage, the detectives took statements of all visitors who engaged with Wambua. However, the NLC staff and security guards are yet to record their statements.

Wambua was a key witness in a case involving the alleged embezzlement of Ksh122 million from the Government Advertising Agency (GAA) implicating top government officials including former PS Sammy Itemere and Lugari MP Ayub Savula.

Detectives are trying to piece together information to establish whether her death is in relation to one of the cases she was involved in.

"From the preliminary investigations, the deceased knew that some people were after her. However, she never reported to the police or to any close relative," one of the detectives stated.
