The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday, March 25 arrested a 27-year-old suspect, Joyce Achieng Omondi, who allegedly stabbed and killed a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate.
The incident happened on Wednesday, March 24 at 10 p.m at Kamagambo area, Migori’s Rongo sub-county.
Local residents reported the incident after their efforts to break into the house where the suspect had locked herself proved futile.
Achieng' only surrendered herself and the kitchen knife she used to stab the victim after the police arrived.
The KCSE candidate who was 19 years of age was a male student at Kuna Secondary School and was scheduled to sit for the national examination on March 26.
The deceased was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but succumbed to the injuries in the wee hours of Thursday, March 25.
As of the time of publication, the DCI had not yet established the motive behind the killing.
In another fatal accident that also happened on Wednesday, March 24, George Oduor Ouma was stabbed to death after a fight with his 17-year old neighbour.
Detectives based in Ruiru rushed to the scene and learnt that the deceased, who was 28 years old, knocked at the girl’s house requesting to be guided on how to top up airtime in his Telkom line.
He found his neighbour in the company of another lady as they were preparing supper.
After being assisted, the deceased who appeared tipsy, did not leave and this prompted his neighbour to push him while locking the door behind him.
Ouma, unpleased by getting pushed out, grabbed one of the women by the neck and pushed her into a corner. The neighbour’s friend run out to ask for help after her efforts to separate the two became futile.
It was at this time that the 17-year old neighbour who was already overpowered got hold of a knife that lay by her groceries and stabbed Ouma, killing him.
She has been arrested and will undergo legal procedures as detectives investigate the matter.
