Liverpool FC and Egyptian star Mohamed Salah surprised Harambee Stars players after Kenya and Egypt played to a one-all draw at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi on Thursday, March 25.

Kenya played with 10 men in the last 15 minutes after full-back Johnstone Omurwa was sent off.

Salah, the two times English Premier League top scorer, went into Harambee Stars dressing room to congratulate them on the impressive match, and also wished Kenya good luck in their next African Cup of Nations (Afcon) quest.

"I want to say thank you for hosting us. We played a good match and unfortunately, you (Kenya) did not qualify. It was great playing against you

"You will be lucky next time," Salah said.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa appreciated Salah's gesture and praised him as a football elite and African ambassador.

"Thank you for coming in here and for recognising our efforts. Good luck in the Cup of Nations and congratulations," Mwenda said and further asked the Kenyan players to take photos with the Premier League star

Harambee Stars players also earlier surprised Kariobangi Stars’ Daniel Sakari with a birthday celebration.

The golden boy is tipped to be Kenya’s next great player. He is an agile and versatile striker who can also play as a winger, midfielder and fullback.

Kenya was knocked out of the qualifiers and will not participate in the upcoming Afcon tourney in 2022 after Egypt and Comoros qualified from Group G.

Egyptian Mohammed Magdy was on target for the Pharaohs while Bandari FC player Abdallah Hassan equalised for Kenya.

Kenya has four points, with only one match to play while Egypt and Comoros top the group with nine points each. Kenya will play Togo in their last group games.
