Kiss FM radio presenter Lynda Nyangweso on Monday, May 3, announced her exit from the Radio Africa-owned station after an 11-year stint.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, she affirmed that she decided to quit Kiss FM in order to take time and explore what the world had to offer. She entailed that her final show would be on Thursday, May 6.
"It's on a wait-and-see basis at the moment. With the world as it is with the Covid-19 pandemic, who knows," she stated.
Further, the seasoned radio presenter took to social media to detail her journey at the station. Nyangweso recounted memorable experiences that shaped her time while at the station.
"11 years ago, I started out on Kiss FM on the graveyard shift where I had room to mess up, try again, rinse then repeat, then I moved to midmorning and I was so proud of the work I did. From there I moved onto the breakfast show which was an amazing learning curve," she stated.
Nyangweso appreciated her fans who, she admitted, became a second family to her.
"This chapter in my life has brought people in my life that have become like a second family. however, this week will be the last one I get to laugh and get weird with you on Kiss FM and I am excited. Can't wait to see you on the other side. thank you for the opportunity to entertain you," Nyangweso stated.
The celebrated journalist is widely lauded for her time hosting the morning Drive show which became an instant hit. She joined the station in 2010 and rose to become one of the acclaimed presenters at the station.
Prior to her stint at Kiss FM, she worked at Phoenix Square, Nairobi where she earned Ksh8,000 a month.
The news comes as her former Kiss FM counterpart Nick Ndeda also called it quits after a nine-year stint.
"Thanks to everyone who always tuned in. Your energy and time were never taken for granted. So, no sadness, no tears, only excitement because now it means we are about to start a new experience, make new friends, family and memories onwards,’’ Ndeda stated.
Other presenters who have recently left Radio Africa Group include Terry Muikamba, Adelle Onyango, and Andrew Kibe.
