For many families in Kenya, sending their deceased kin in style is an integral way for them to show their last respects and with a Range Rover Limousine hearse valued at Ksh20 million, they now can.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a representative from Delight Funeral Directors confirmed that the hearse-hire service has broken new ground with the first-ever offering in Kenya.
The limo spots a maroon colour and has long gull-wing doors that can hold an adult-size hearse. On its rear end, it has swan doors that can sit three people.
The representative noted that the company would charge Ksh500,000 for the use of the luxury car per day.
"The limousine cost around Ksh18 to Ksh20 million. Now, we are charging Ksh500,000. It just landed. The business itself has been around for five years," he explained.
He added that the company was challenged to add the expensive machine into its fleet to expand its quality offering.
"Change from the normal. We are focused in improving daily and our slogan is quality runs deep. That is what is guiding us. We want to improve everyday in all aspects," he added.
On its sides, the car has two transparent windscreens covered with curtains.
Inside, the luxurious car has a rotational panel on which the coffin sits that is separated from the driver's sit by a board.
Delight Funeral Directors has been in operation for five years offering its services across the country and in some parts of Uganda.
The company has a fleet of about 60 cars including Landcruiser hearses, a Jaguar Limousine, Prados that pulls chariots, normal vans, seven seaters hearses and Mercedes Benz hearses.
The company held an induction service complete with a prayer ceremony during the introduction of the Limousine into its fleet.
