Safaricom Rolls Out New Baze Platform

Safaricom on Thursday, May 27 launched a new video streaming platform named Baze, at the Michael Joseph Centre. 

Chief Customer Officer, Sylvia Mulinge, announced that the Baze platform would help share creators' content with Safaricom customers. 

The platform is expected to have a revenue split of 60% to the content providers and 40% to Safaricom.

The event was attended by popular media personalities and Youtuber users including Jalang'o and King Kaka.

Content creators have been called to register and join the platform to make money. 

Only content providers that meet the streaming platform’s requirements are eligible for registration.

One of the requirements is that the material uploaded must be original.

The platform will offer the following genres of content : Entertainment: comedy, kids, drama, lifestyle culture: travel, food, fashion, fitness, DIYs, mom & baby, factual, news & documentary, faith, sports and music.

In order to watch the content on Baze; users dial *544*55# and pay as low as Ksh 10 to Ksh 20 daily to purchase a subscription.

People will also be able to share an account with their families and friends. 

Content creators must be willing to be represented by one of 12 approved video content service providers.

Akili network, Global technologies, Ngomma Value added services and Africa 24 media limited are amongst the 12 companies that have been approved to provide content to Baze.
