The ownership wrangles facing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, have been solved amicably.
According to a legal document seen by Kenyans.co.ke, signed by lawyers from both parties, the appellant (Abdi Noor) indicated he was satisfied with the gazette notice changing the party's leadership.
"The appellant is satisfied that the decision of the responded vide Gazette Notices Numbers 123, dated 29th January 2021, and Gazette Notice No. 0739 dated 19th March 2021 was lawful," read the document.
All parties in the legal battle further agreed to settle their own costs.
Former UDA Chairman Mohammed Abdi Noor had moved to court to challenge a decision made by the Registrar of Political Parties, claiming that it had unlawfully made changes to the party's National Executive Council (NEC) officials.
"I am aware on my own knowledge that the Registrar of Political Parties unlawfully made changes to the party's National Executive Council (NEC) officials through Gazette Notice No. 1233 dated January 29, 2021, and 2739 published on March 19, 2021," Noor had said in a sworn affidavit.
In the affidavit dated July 12, 2021, Noor had also blamed the Registrar of Political Parties for ignoring complaints and reservations leading to the changes instituted in the party.
Noor had accused the current UDA officials, Johnstone Muthama(Party chairman) and Secretary-General Veronica, of unlawfully taking over the leadership of the party.
Ruto ally and Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen celebrated the win which had threatened to nip the new party's momentum in the bud.
"The small matter between Mr Abdi Noor Mohamed and UDAKenya has been resolved amicably," wrote Senator Murkomen on his official Twitter account.
The ruling by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal served to end Noor's claim of ownership of the now-thriving UDA Party.
