Activists have petitioned Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha to appoint a class five girl as Kenya's Education Ambassador among pastoralist communities.

Janet Memusi went viral after she was pictured studying while herding cattle. She has since been described by women rights activists as the perfect Education Ambassador in communities where children drop out of school early.

Activists argue that making Memusi an ambassador will encourage and boost girl child education in the affected areas.

Speaking to journalists at Memusi's home, the activists noted that children in some of the pastoralists communities do not get access to quality education.

They hailed Memusi for being a hardworking girl in school and asked her to encourage her peers to not drop out of school.

According to some of the speakers, children in pastoralists communities are vulnerable to violent activities as a result of banditry.

Memusi is a Grade Five pupil at Ololchani primary school in Transmara West Sub-County.

Her photo touched the Kisii Police Commander Francis Kooli who visited the girl on Saturday, September 18 and offered to support her academic journey.

Kooli who was moved by her thirst for knowledge organised a visit to ascertain what really was going on.

Other than just visiting her home alone, the police boss further went to Ololchani Primary School where she is enrolled.

The teachers told him that Memusi was a disciplined and hardworking girl whose efforts have paid off in her performance in school.

National Police Service (NPS) appreciating the act of kindness extended by Kooli stated the service is also committed to supporting education in society.
