Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, George Natembeya, on October 9, 2021, clashed with Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, over claims that he was a political project.

While addressing mourners at the funeral of the late Orie Rogo Manduli, Natembeya refuted claims that he was being sponsored by the Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, stating that he was an independent man.

Natembeya went ahead to insinuate that the Kiminini legislator was a project of FORD Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula.

"Wetangula is holding his hand. So who is the project? He was given a ticket long ago for FORD- Kenya. When did they go for party primaries?" the public administrator asked.

The no-nonsense Regional Commissioner also hit out at Wetangula over his involvement with the county politics.

"The person who is supporting him, Is he from Trans Nzoia? Isn't he from Bungoma?" the Commissioner questioned.

While addressing the mourners earlier, Wamalwa (Chris) had claimed that Natembeya had the upper hand in the race because he had the support of the Defense CS.

"It is the people of Trans Nzoia who will vote in the next governor. We are ready to deal with Eugene's project once and for all," the legislator stated.

The legislator also expressed his intentions to vie for the gubernatorial seat in the upcoming 2022 General Elections.

"I am a member of Parliament for Kiminini and this is my second term in office. And because leadership is from God, I am asking for a promotion so that in 2022 I am elected the governor of Trans Nzoia," Wamalwa declared.

Previously, Natembeya has stated that he would be going for the gubernatorial seat in 2022.

The two are eyeing to take over the reins of leadership from the outgoing Governor Patrick Khaemba.
