Witty, outgoing and classy- are words that could best describe actress Jackie Matubia's character on popular Citizen TV drama series Zora.

On the show, Matubia plays the character of Nana, a woman who loves the fine things in life and would do anything to get and maintain them.

She is also the main character's (Zora) best friend.

Before her debut on Zora, she was cast as Jolene on the popular Tahidi High Show which also aired on Citizen TV. However, she quit, after she got pregnant and was unable to hide it.

“I had to leave the show when I was four months pregnant because I had bought so many skirts and it was getting harder to hide the bump,” she stated.

Other than being a renowned actress, Matubia is also an entrepreneur who owns a beauty shop and an E-zone show host on Rembo TV. Her beauty shop, Fabulously Forward, deals with nail art and accessories.

Before joining Rembo TV, Matubia worked at Kenya Red Cross-owned station Switch TV, where she hosted a show called Chat Spot alongside three other ladies.

Family

Matubia and the husband, Captain Mogz (a pilot), met on Instagram, building a relationship that would lead to marriage.

Together, they were blessed with a daughter.

However, after around four years, the couple separated and each went their separate ways in March 2019.

"I got married in 2015 but after the breakup, I decided to give myself time. At that point, you don't know who to talk to as you are left all alone.

"It breaks you more as you always want people to hear your side of the story. I rushed to get married with no one to mentor me, so I learned how to manage a marriage from working it out with my partner," she stated.

Childhood

In a previous interview, Matubia disclosed that she had a troubled childhood after facing rejection from her biological mother.

The thespian narrated that after her parents separated, she was rejected at her mother's new home, forcing her to hop from one relative's house to another.

"My mum was married elsewhere and the issue was always being accepted in the new family. Back in the days, getting married while already having a child was so hard, not like today. Right now, we are building a relationship after we forgave each other," she expressed.

Nonetheless, Matubia and her mother have managed to bond over the years and form a relationship.
