Reports have emerged that a senior NTV news anchor will be leaving the Kimathi Street-based media station for greener pastures.

Insiders told Kenyans.co.ke that the news anchor handed in their resignation letter and the company is already in discussion with prospective replacements.

The insiders, however, did not disclose the timelines the journalist handed in their resignation letter but reports indicate that the anchor submitted the departure notice to NTV bosses.

NTV is already in top gear as it seeks to replace the top-rated news anchor who hosts one of the media house's most-watched talk shows.

Kenyans.co.ke also learnt that NTV is conducting screen tests for media personalities already handpicked from other media houses as it looks at the possibility of replacing the top talent.

“Yes we heard so too and we were surprised as the slot and show would remain exposed," the source told Kenyans.co.ke.

“However, NTV is conducting test runs for replacement with several anchors and presenters from mainstream media, K24, KTN, KBC on trial."

The anchor, who is among the top followed journalists at the media house, will follow in the footsteps of Victor Kiprop who announced his exit from NTV last week.

Kiprop left NTV and will be joining the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Sources told Kenyans.co.ke that Kiprop would be joining the media house after he bid farewell to his viewers, November 4, on a live TV show. It is yet to be established, however, when Kiprop will be starting his new job and in what capacity.

In the live show on Thursday, Kiprop appreciated NTV for believing in him to serve at the station for the last three years.

"I must say it feels like yesterday when I went on air and I have been here for the last 3 years, co-hosting Your World for the last 10 months. This has been a dream come true for me," he stated.

Kiprop graduated with a Degree in Bachelor of Commerce from Egerton University in 2015. He joined CNBC Africa as a business reporter trainee for five months in 2017.
