Billionaire businessman Zedekiah Bundotich Kiprop, better known as Buzeki, has asked members of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to stop coercing him to join the party.

Speaking during the coronation of Uasin Gishu Kikuyu Council of Elders Chairman Mzee Kimani Wa Gatonye on Friday, January 14, Buzeki explained that the party, which is associated with Deputy President William Ruto, needs to tell him what they intend to do for Kenyans.

"If I don't want your party, why are you forcing me? Another one told me that they had given me until December to join UDA. The party has not given me their manifesto and I have heard what they are going around saying and I don't want to join UDA. Don't even force me," he remarked.

Further, Buzeki explained that he would have supported the party if they had an agenda that will help Kenyans.

Buzeki was the Secretary-General of Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) but he quit in January 2021 following Party Leader Isaac Ruto's move to back DP Ruto.

At the time, he explained that he would not subscribe to Tangatanga's politics.

"I can't be a party to such politics that is based on lies and propaganda. I will not and will never be part of Tangatanga style of politics," he remarked.

In September 2021, Buzeki, who wants to become the next Governor of Uasin Gishu County, revealed that he would vie as an independent candidate.

"I have decided I will wait for all those battling in UDA so that they do what they are doing and then we meet in the premier league where I am fully prepared for the race,” the wealthy businessman stated.

On many occasions, Buzeki has told off the DP over his push to have only UDA candidates elected in the Rift Valley region in this year's General Election.

Other than Buzeki, the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial race has attracted many candates including; Vesca Kangogo, Soy MP Caleb Kositany, Jonathan Kimeli Chelilim and Ambassador Julius Bitok.
