Governors from the lower Eastern Region have issued tough conditions to Wiper leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, after revealing that the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) was in talks with Azimio La Umoja and Jubilee Party over a potential coalition agreement.

While addressing a rally in Machakos County on Friday, February 25, the Ukambani leaders led by Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwani cautioned the Wiper boss against expecting special treatment in the coalition.

He stated that the Wiper boss was a latecomer to Azimio, adding that they did not expect any demands from him.

Kivutha was accompanied by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and their Kitui counterpart, Charity Kaluki Ngilu.

However, Kibwana stated that the former Vice President was welcome to the coalition adding that they would triumph over Deputy President William Ruto and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) brigade in the region.

"As the three governors of Ukambani we started campaigning for Azimio and we do not have a problem with Wiper joining us.

"Let them know that they have come in late and they should sit on seats for the latecomers. Let them not come and start giving us conditions that they want the front seats yet we have been working all along. We do not want confusion," he stated.

Kibwana also explained that the Wiper team would not get preferential treatment in the coalition, stating that the former VP was among the leaders that had earlier insinuated that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was a project of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He urged the resident to back the presidential bid of the ODM boss, stating that he had the best interest of the region at heart.

"Raila has done so much for this country. Even during the reign of the late President Daniel Moi, he tried his best to try and help our country.

"All that time that I was in Wiper helping Kalonzo what we used to talk about is how Raila would help us in transforming our region. This is why we are in Azimio," he stated.

The statement by the Ukambani leaders come after Kalonzo revealed that One Kenya Alliance was in structured discussions with Uhuru's Jubilee party and Raila's ODM over a coalition pact ahead of the August 9 polls.

"As announced in our earlier communication, OKA principals will on Monday, February 28, 2022, officially sign the coalition agreement as an affirmation of our commitment to seeing a just, inclusive and prosperous nation. Thereafter, we shall deposit the coalition agreement with the registrar of political parties," he stated then.
