Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, who is eyeing the Kiambu County gubernatorial seat, on Wednesday, March 9, invited applications for a running mate, announcing the qualifications the applicant must meet.

In a full-page advertisement in one of the leading local dailies, Kuria noted that his running mate must be a female with unmatched academic and professional qualifications.

Notably, the applicant must be holder of a Masters' Degree from a recognised university. The recruitment of the running mate is being undertaken by a consulting firm.

"To deliver on this programme, Kuria is looking for an aggressive, self-driven, self-motivated lady professional to take up the role of the deputy governor. Applicants must be a holder of a Master's degree," the advert read in part.

To complement his 15 years of experience as a professional in the banking industry, Kuria wants a deputy who matches his qualifications, adding that a proven track record of more than 10 years is mandatory.

"Interested applicants must have a proven track record in a leading complex organization with at least 10 years experience, five at a senior executive level."

The Gatundu South Legislator further noted that the position is exclusively a reserve for residents of Kiambu County.

Applicants have been requested to submit their expressions of interest in writing within 10 days.

"Candidates are invited to send their written expressions of interest accompanied by comprehensive resumes to the website provided no later than Friday, March 18, 2022," added the announcement.

Kuria, who is confident of clinching the Kiambu seat, noted that his leadership will focus on three pillars: efficient service delivery, creation of an investment hub and promotion of the manufacturing sector.

This is the second time that the Legislator has announced qualifications for persons seeking to contest for positions on his Chama Cha Kazi party.

In October 2021, he barred aspirants aged 45 years and above from running for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seats under his party in a bid to encourage the youth to take up active roles in the country's leadership.

"Bad news if you are over 45 years and seeking to vie for MCA position. Chama Cha Kazi will not nominate anyone above 45 years to vie for MCA position. Let's walk the talk," Kuria wrote.
