Royal Media Services (RMS) Director of Strategy and Innovations, Linus Kaikai, has been promoted to the position of Editorial Director after Joe Ageyo left the station.
A statement obtained by Kenyans.co.ke dated Wednesday, March 9, indicated that Ageyo, who had served in the Editorial Director capacity for four years, left the station to pursue his own interests. He is said to be headed to NTV.
"I wish to announce that Joe Ageyo who has for the last four years served the RMS as Editorial Director is leaving the company to pursue other interests," read the statement in part.
The new development saw Kaikai elevated to handle both his role as well as the void left by Ageyo. He will henceforth serve as the Editorial Director across all RMS platforms.
"Until this appointment, Linus was a Director of Strategy and Innovation. He retains the two functions alongside his new role. As Editorial Director, Linus will oversee the administrative and editorial functions of our news and current affairs operations across the RMS platforms.
"I congratulate Linus on his appointment and wish him good luck in the execution of his new duties and responsibilities towards accomplishing the goals of the RMS," added the statement signed by the Managing Director Wachira Waruru.
The changes will take effect on April 1, 2022.
The duo joined RMS in April 2018 during a top-level reorganisation to the team at the Kilimani-based media house.
Kaikai was poached by the station from his role as NTV Managing Editor while Joe Ageyo joined the company shortly after quitting KTN News.
The promotion comes two months after Citizen TV news anchor, Yvonne Okwara was elevated the role of Business Editor.
Okwara was promoted to fill the role that was left vacant after her predecessor, Joseph Bonyo, was promoted to the position of Managing Editor at the newly launched Ramogi TV.
