KANU party leader Gideon Moi has released a statement over reports of ditching One Kenya Alliance (OKA) for ODM leader Raila Odinga's Azimio La Umoja.

In his statement published on Thursday, March 10, on his official social media accounts, Moi stated that he was firmly in OKA adding that he was fully committed to the coalition.

He insisted that he would only join Azimio after structured dialogue as advocated for by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

"KANU is firmly in OKA and we are united as a coalition. Our position is that our talks with Azimio and any other parties must be structured, open, and honest.

"Therefore, KANU has not changed its position whatsoever as reported by a section of the media. We are committed to the cause of OKA and we are not about to deviate from that path until an amicable position has been attained in the ongoing talks," he stated.

The statement by the Baringo senator comes after leaders within his party mounted pressure on him to ditch OKA and join forces with Raila's team which is expected to hold a mega delegates conference in the coming days.

While addressing party members on March 9 during the launch of the KANU party manifesto, party Secretary-General, Nick Salat stated that time was running, out further lamenting over Kalonzo's indecisiveness.

"What does your friend want? We have tried to give him everything but he is taking forever to decide. Time is running out. If your partner is not willing, leave him and lead us into Azimio. How long will we babysit him, we have to go," he stated.

Previously, Kalonzo announced that OKA was in talks with Azimio, however, the coalition has not entered into an agreement with the Raila-led faction as the principals are yet to sign a coalition agreement.

Some of the principals including NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua asked for more time to deliberate on the OKA agreement before formally joining the coalition.

"We were to sign our coalition agreement today but we have postponed to polish certain legal issues. Nevertheless, we are committed to our unity. We shall be letting you know the time we shall sign the agreement.

We still are open to receiving other parties that we are talking to into the OKA coalition and to building coalitions with other Kenyans," read a statement by OKA.
