Kenya Railways has announced a new streamlined bus service from the main station in Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD) to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) through the Embakasi station.

In a statement dated Friday, April 8, Kenya Railways stated that the service will involve boarding a train from the central station in the CBD to the Embakasi Village railway station before boarding a bus to the airport.

The state corporation noted that the service is aimed at reducing the time taken between the central railway station and JKIA given the traffic jam experienced on Mombasa Road.

"Passengers can now connect from the Nairobi Railway Station to Embakasi Village Station (EVK) and finally take the Nairobi Commuter Rail Bus to the airport.

"The service greatly reduces travel time between JKIA and the CBD. Choose NCR Service for seamless commuting," KR stated.

Further, the corporation released time schedules and the price list for the new service. It will cost commuters Ksh50 to travel from Embakasi to JKIA and vice versa.

Additionally, KR estimates its buses will take 15 minutes between JKIA and Embakasi Village station.

The buses from JKIA to the Embakasi station will start operations at 6:00am with the last bus departing the airport at 6:50pm.

On the other hand, buses leaving the Embakasi station will start operations at 6:20am with the last bus leaving the station at 8:35pm.

However, KR cautioned Kenyans against scammers stating that tickets will be issued once the commuter boards the bus.

KR has introduced bus services on major Nairobi roads in recent years mostly targeting passengers who use their train service.

On January 3, KR announced the resumption of bus services to Westlands, Upper Hill, and Yaya Centre.
