Voters in Nandi County reprimanded their Senator, Simon Cherargei, for skipping the queue during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations.
During the voting exercise on Thursday, April 14, the voters complained that the Senator arrived at the polling station late and jumped the queue in a bid to be served first.
Nandi voters called out the Senator, saying that he should respect them as they had been queuing from as early as 6am.
The Senator, however, defended himself stating that he had agreed to join the line and he will not be demanding special treatment.
"We are tired, we have been here since early morning and he just came in and went straight to the line in front of us," a voter stated.
The Senator stated that he respects voters and did not mean to offend anyone. Further, Cherargei pointed out that he joined the queue at the right place and had not skipped it.
"I think everyone is impatient on the line because were are using one stream and they are supposed to be three. Most people have been here from 5am. Everyone is tired. It's okay to queue, there is no problem," he stated.
Meanwhile, UDA polls in Mount Elgon and Kakamega were postponed to tomorrow due to logistical challenges.
The National Elections Board chair, Anthony Mwaura, announced the move amid chaos in various voting stations across the country.
At the same time, there was a stalemate in Bomet as a section of aspirants claimed that the ballot papers were pre-marked. The aspirants called on the NEB to call off the polls until their complaints are resolved.
But Mwaura refuted the claims of pre-marked ballot papers saying that there was no evidence was found.
UDA primaries at Kiragana polling station in Runyenjes, Embu County were also halted amid vote-tampering claims. The exercise was also postponed in Narok South.
