Deputy President William has been given a five-day ultimatum to respond to a lawsuit seeking to kick him out of his Karen residence.
The DP was sued by Mau Mau veterans who accused him of misusing government resources and reportedly channelling the funds to his own presidential campaign.
The freedom fighters further alleged that Ruto was also focused on coordinating the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) rather than supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta in running the government.
They claimed that he had abandoned his duties and should be removed from office.
Through their attorneys, the veterans told the court that the DP acknowledged receipt of the suit but was intentionally delaying to reply.
The case will be mentioned on Thursday, May 19.
Ruto and his allies had previously spoken on a looming court case and a plan reportedly being orchestrated by his rivals to frustrate his presidential campaigns.
"I understand we will have a new Deputy President in a few months. Therefore, I want to tell the good people planning the renovations that for Kenya Kwanza, refurbishment of the DP's residence is not a priority.
"The priority is to sort out the hunger affecting 3 million Kenyans who are sleeping hungry," Ruto stated while addressing UDA delegates at Ngong Race Course on Tuesday, April 12.
Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru, and Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro, further argued that it was illogic to evict the DP from his official residence.
One week later, President Uhuru Kenyatta hit back at his DP who he claimed was more focused on attacking the government rather than offering solutions.
“The problem with this Kenya is that the so-called leaders are quick to pinpoint a problem but have no solution to those problems.
“You are already in leadership and you are seeking a more powerful position, then you should be in the frontline to solve current problems not complain and criticize all the time,” Uhuru lashed back after Ruto accused the government of plotting the fuel shortage.
