The Service Party (TSP) leader Mwangi Kiunjuri claimed that Deputy President William Ruto withheld critical details about the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) submitted by Kenya Kwanza to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
Speaking at a campaign rally in Tharaka, Kiunjuri -who is also a principal in Kenya Kwanza -claimed that while TSP was not aware of Mount Kenya's stake in Ruto's government, despite signing a memorandum when joining the coalition.
He added that even the leaders from the region who are in UDA had not disclosed which memorandum they submitted to the ORPP.
"TSP is yet to submit its own, neither has Tujibebe - and those on UDA have not told us which memorandum they submitted so that we know what we have in Ruto's government," he stated.
The former Agriculture CS advised the people of Tharaka not to vote for either the DP or Azimio flagbearer Raila Odinga without knowing how they would benefit from the respective leader.
"We need to know what we are being offered in Ruto's or Raila's government so that we are not reduced to people who only vote so that others may benefit when they get into power," he explained.
In addition, he called for the Mount Kenya region to demand the presidential candidate to openly declare the plans they have for the, not just during campaigns, but through written plans and policies.
Kiunjuri further cautioned candidates from the region against focusing on pushing the Ruto and UDA agenda during the campaigns and instead inform voters how they would improve their lives.
"We have not had a factory for nearly sixty years yet it can employ nearly 4,000 youths. That is the kind of discussions we want to have, not just singing UDA and Ruto from morning to evening," he stated.
On March The TSP party leader announced that his party would conduct solo campaigns over what he claimed was blatant favouritism of parties in the coalition. He accused UDA of sidelining his party during campaigns.
The former CS opined that the coalition was being dishonest about its support for TSP which officially joined the front on April 12. He added that the zoning of elective areas between affiliate parties posed a threat to the candidature of Deputy President William Ruto.
"The emerging conflict, sibling rivalry, protection of territory and attention seeing are of concern because this could easily resort to unwanted consequences for our presidential candidate - if not well managed," he added.
