The ongoing Monica Kimani murder probe took a new angle after the Magistrate hearing the case visited Lamuria Gardens as well as former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe's house in Lang'ata.

In the trip that sought to recreate what happened on the night of the incident, Lady Justice Grace Nzioka first visited Lamuria Gardens on Wednesday, June 15, in the company of the accused, Jowie Irungu and Maribe.

She was seeking the validity of the evidence as well as the testimony that was submitted as part of the case since the incident occurred in September 2019.

At Lamuria Gardens, Chief Inspector Maxwell Otieno argued that Irungu had arrived at the residence in a cab and gained entry into the property using a different identity.

"The names that were indicated in the visitor's book were as per the ID that was given. The guards believed that was his identity.

"He entered as though he knew where he was going. He had been here on the 1st of September (2019)," stated the inspector.

The team then went to the Roadhouse Grill, an eatery located along Denis Pritt road in Kilimani where Jowie is believed to have taken a meal before heading to Lamuria Gardens where Monica Kimani resided.

The proceeding also visited Citizen TV before heading to Maribe's former house at Royal Park Estate in Lang'ata where Irungu is said to have shot himself.

While at the spot, Lady Justice Nzioka noted that the visit will allow the case to proceed smoothly.

"We could try the best that we can to conclude this matter tomorrow. I had given an indication that my diary is busy. We are all aware that from August 1, we will go to recess until about September 15," she stated and adjourned the proceeding for the day.

In mid-May, it was revealed that Kimani had sent a short message to an unidentified man on the night of her murder requesting them to spend the night at her apartment.

According to the police officer who provided the testimony, Kimani seemed distressed on the night she was murdered.
