Additionally, Bedford 6x6 trucks were also included in the list of vehicles that will be sold.

Among the household goods included in the August auction are furniture, shoes, clothes, solar panels, television sets, and milk among others.

Kenyans who are interested in the items were urged to visit various warehouses at the port on August 4 and 5 to view them ahead of the auction.

"Interested buyers may view the goods at MICT, MCT, IIL, ALT, CNT, UNI, RLC, CCF, POR, MIT, SIG, KEN & FOC on August 4 - 5 during office hours," read the notice in part.

However, the government did not detail how much the goods will be sold for during the auction.

On the other hand, the government added that it was planning on destroying several high-end cars on August 8 terming them as condemned goods.

"Pursuant to the provisions of sections 42 and 248 of the East African Community customs Management Act, 2004, notice is given that the under-mentioned condemned goods shall be disposed of by way of destruction on August 8, 2022, after the expiry of thirty (30) days from the publication of this notice," read the notice in part.

Among the vehicles to be destroyed include Range Rover Chassis, Toyota Premio, Impreza Sports Wagon and Mazda Tribute Chassis.

Over the years, the government has disposed off commodities that have overstayed at the border warehouses to create space for other goods.
