The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Director-General Ezra Chiloba has revoked licenses of more than a dozen courier service providers.
In a notice published on Tuesday, July 19, CA announced that it had revoked the licenses of 15 companies providing postal and courier services in the country.
The firms' licenses were recalled over failure to comply with the operating requirements as stipulated by the authority.
"Subject to the postal/ courier license conditions, the Authority wishes to notify the public that has revoked the licenses of the following underlisted firms," the statement read in part.
Among the companied whose licenses were revoked include Apollo Express and Roy Parcel Services Limited which offer countrywide delivery services.
Other companies include Al Micdad Parcel Services, Joham Moving Enterprises, Grafa International, Dana Communications and Samper Tours and Travel.
In addition, Across Border Courier, Blessings Parcel Services, Destiny Parcel Services and Spanish Courier limited have also been axed.
Rising Parcels limited, which offers international courier and postal services was also affected by Chiloba's directive.
Other delivery firms hit by the purge include Zissou Group, Vickers Security Services Limited and Exodus Parcels Limited.
The 15 companies fall in the second tranche of courier service providers whose licenses have been rescinded by CA. In June 24, Chiloba cancelled permits of 19 courier services.
He explained that the companies had committed gross violations of the provisions of the government's requirements.
