A Nairobi CBD boss is nursing injuries after his employee bit off his thumb.

The altercation between the two turned sour after they differed on how to arrange their coffee hotel.

On Saturday, June 16, the boss reported to work preparing for a normal working day only to be confronted by his irked storekeeper.

“The two disagreed over who and how the items will be arranged in the store,” eyewitnesses told the court hearing the case.

As the argument at the hotel along Banda Street in Nairobi got heated, the storekeeper allegedly hit his boss in the chest. The boss spiralled to the ground writhing in pain.

However, the raging junior reportedly assaulted him further, grabbed his right hand and bit off his thumb.

Other employees who were attracted by the commotion rushed to the scene to find their boss bleeding. On sensing danger, the storekeeper fled for his life as the colleagues bailed for his blood.

The employer scampered for safety trying to comprehend the incident, seemingly suffering from an adrenaline rush. Some employees, however, rushed to his aid and took him to a nearby clinic where he underwent first aid.

Others apprehended the accused before he got away and pinned him down. He was then placed under police custody and charged with causing grievous harm.

His boss was admitted for further check-ups but lost his thumb to amputation.

The storekeeper was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts to answer the charges levelled against him.

Senior principal magistrate, Bernard Ochoi, released him on Ksh200,000 cash bail. The case will be heard on Monday, August 8.
