Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga's siblings Oburu and Ruth Odinga have won in the Siaya Senatorial and Kisumu Woman Representative seats respectively.
Speaking on Friday, August 12, IEBC Siaya County returning officer declared Dr Oburu Oginga as the Senator-elect on an ODM ticket.
The former East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP garnered 285,555 votes with Tony Yogo coming in second position with 25,157 votes.
Oburu welcomed the result, thanking Siaya residents for entrusting him with the oversight role in the counties. He also wished his younger brother, Raila victory in the national contest.
"I want to thank my people for the support; this is a very big occasion for me. Despite being seventy and approaching the eighth floor, and in a much younger slot, you have given me the honour to represent you.
"I hope our people will be patient as we wait for the other one, but we only hope that no monkey game will be played up there," the senior Odinga stated.
In Kisumu, Ruth bagged 304,293 votes in the Woman Rep contest, flooring (Movement for Democracy and Growth) MDG rival Valentine Otieno who garnered 80,117 votes.
She will succeed Rosa Buyu, who was declared the MP-elect for Kisumu Town West Constituency.
Raila allies Senator James Orengo and Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga, whom he endorsed, are the governor-elects of Siaya and Homa Bay counties.
Orengo got 220, 349 votes while Wanga edged out Independent candidate Evans Kidero, as she bagged 244,559 votes against his154,182.
Despite ODM's dominance in Luo Nyanza, independent candidates Shakeel Shabbir and Fatuma Mohamed were confirmed winners of the Kisumu Town East and Migori County Woman Representative elections respectively.
The MDG party has so far clinched one seat in the region, Ugenya constituency through candidate David Ochieng'.
