"Until yesterday, I was the leader of the Chama Cha Kazi. But on Friday, September 30, I to the ORPP to break the party so that I can join UDA," Kuria disclosed.

The dissolution of the party will be made official by Nderitu through a gazette notice within seven days of receiving the request provided there is no objection from members of the party.

Kuria explained that CCK's core mandate was completed -ensuring that Ruto clinched the presidency - and there was no use to have multiple parties within the government.

The former Gatundu South lawmaker gave his two cents about the succession of Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who was nominated alongside him to the cabinet.

He called on the public to rally behind the ruling party and asked contenders who fail to clinch the UDA party ticket to bow out of the race. This will see the candidate run unopposed and save money that would be used to carry out a by-election.

"If I, a whole CS nominee can dissolve my party to join who are you? Once we finish the UDA nomination, it should end at that. We previously had time because we were in the opposition but now we are busy sorting out the country," he stated.

His sentiments were reiterated by former senatorial candidate Alex Tolgos, a two-term governor who battled it out with Murkomen under an Azimio coalition party ticket.

"Personally, even though I was in Azimio, I would not want for that seat to go to any party.  All of us, including independent candidates, should agree to take part in the UDA nomination and support whoever will win," Tolgos stated.

Murkomen maintained that he would steer clear of succession politics emphasizing that the final decision lied with the people.
