RMS Radio Manager Quits After 17 Years for Govt Job

Royal Media Services (RMS) radio programmes manager, Charles Odhiambo, has quit the media house after 17 years. 

Odhiambo, the former Ramogi FM journalist is set to join Homa Bay County as the chief of staff in governor Glady's Wanga's office.

His exit was made public by Ramogi FM in a statement thanking him for his near two decades of service.

"Thank you for the good work you have done. From the time you joined Ramogi FM till now, we have seen your work manifest.

"May God bless you and guide you in your next chapter. Congratulations," Ramogi FM announced.

The radio presenter already began his role in the south Nyanza county when he accompanied the governor to various engagements with the international community in recent days.

Odhiambo joined RMS in March 2005 and grew through the ranks over the years. 

Apart from being the programmes manager, he was also the in-charge of the Western Kenya cluster stations Mulembe FM, Ramogi FM, and Vuuka FM among others.

Odhiambo is famed for leading a panellist show on Ramogi FM - Kaka Wanene, a replica of Citizen's TV News Gang.

Additionally, he also hosted shows on Ramogi TV that was launched in 2021.

Odhiambo joins a number of journalists from the station to take up jobs in the government.

Among those who have left the station since the August 9 polls are former Citizen TV reporter  Nicky Gitonga who was appointed as the spokesperson for the Kwale County Government and former Musyi FM presenter, Jacqueline Kalenga, who was nominated to the Kitui County Assembly.
