Charlene Ruto has warned Kenyans about scammers targeting job seekers using fake social media accounts.

Through a statement dated Wednesday, October 19, President William Ruto's daughter stated that some job seekers were hoodwinked by fraudsters promising to secure them jobs at his father's Weston Hotel located along Lang'ata Road in Nairobi.

Charlene lamented that the scammers were soliciting money from unsuspecting Kenyans and even, to some extent, tarnishing her name.

"I have had enough! Met a young lady this morning who informed me that she was assured, by someone using my identity on social media, that she would get a job if she sent money to them and to meet them at Weston Hotel, even through WhatsApp," her statement read in part.

She thus warned job seekers and other Kenyans to steer clear of social media accounts bearing her name.

"Kenyans, don't allow yourselves to believe, be cheated and conned by these fake accounts," she stated.

"I would never ask for money from anyone to give them a job, or to meet them, or give them anything for that matter," she insisted.

Charlene served as a Public Relations officer and Branding officer at Weston Hotel Nairobi before her father ascended to power.

Before joining Weston, she worked as a public relations and media relations officer at a private firm.

Charlene graduated from Daystar University in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication.

"Today, I am a proud father, our daughter graduated from Daystar University. She has made my wife Rachel and I proud.

"Parents should always strive to support their children in whatever way they can," President Ruto stated after graduation.

Recently, job seekers have fallen prey to countless fake adverts shared on social media. Prior to applying for a job, graduates and prospective employees were urged to cross-check with firm websites and official social media handles.

This year, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), cracked down on several rings preying on unsuspecting Kenyans.
