Jubilee politician, Gladys Chania, who was accused of murdering her husband, penned an emotional tribute during his burial in Gatundu North, Kiambu, on Thursday, October 27.

Chania, who unsuccessfully contested the Kiambu woman representative seat in the August 9, General Election, opened up on her unending love for the deceased while promising to honour his wishes

She further disclosed that their marriage was marred with disagreements which were managed amicably.

"It has been 24 years since the day we settled together on a Sunday, April 25, 1998. We have grown from two to five.

"I thank God for the way your care and concern surrounded our family day in and day out," her tribute read in part.

"Just like any other family, we had our high and low moments but each day we held our love for each other by reminding ourselves the far we have come," she added.

Chania lamented that the sudden death shocked their children. Before her husband's demise, one of their kids was set to join university.

"For now that you have left us untimely, we shall try to fit in your shoes, but it's already difficult to fill them. Ryan already wonders that you will not see him go to university," Chania stated.

"I promise to uphold all your wishes, more so to see the success of your children. Rest in peace, my love, the father to my children,"  she concluded.

Chania's tribute was read by her sister, who was overwhelmed with emotions, compelling other family members to console her.

The burial was held at their Mang'u home, where the engineer was reportedly murdered before the body was dumped in Kieni Forest.

Detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) recovered several items, including bedsheets, from the deceased's bedroom.

Postmortem examination revealed that the deceased died of blunt force trauma to the head. Chania was arrested and treated as the main suspect in the murder case.

She was, however, released on a Ksh1 million bond.
