Second Lady, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi on Saturday, November 19, pledged to sponsor two third-year Moi University students struggling to raise funds for school fees and other basic needs.

Pastor Rigathi met Telvin Sheldon and Milicent Muhonja in Kahawa Wendani, where they were working as casual labourers at a construction site.

"They visited my office, where I offered to support them through their final year. I also encouraged them not to lose sight of their vision and ambitions in life and to continue working hard," Pastor Dorcas stated.

She further affirmed her commitment to helping and mentoring the youth to realize their potential.

"Our youth are industrious and determined, and all they need is encouragement and support to excel," she added.

Pastor Dorcas embarked on various humanitarian activities soon after her husband, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, assumed office in September 2022.

Among the programmes she launched was providing relief food for people affected by the ravaging drought in different parts of Kenya.

Gachagua's wife also expressed her desire to establish programmes geared at empowering boys and young men.

She stated that the programme would help to empower young men financially in line with the bottom-up economic model advanced by President William Ruto.

"The bottom-up movement started from the cooperative movement, and these (SACCOs) are the answers to the future of Kenya; our youth, women, and vulnerable, and they also create a thriving and vibrant economy," she stated.
