Tim Kipchumba and Jonah Tanui tied at second place after they both managed to garner 26,766 votes each.

The county has 108,664 registered voters spread over 529 polling stations and majority of the voters did not turn up to vote for the concluded primaries.

Tim Kipchumba who came second explained that the low voter turnout was to be blamed on UDA leadership.

“I am sorry for so many of our voters who turned up at 6am and could only vote at noon, only for some of them to turn back at 2pm and find that ballot papers had run out,” he lamented.

Kisang is looking to make a comeback to Kenyan politics having served as a member of parliament for Marakwet West from 2013 to 2022.

The former parliamentarian is well known for introducing a raft of proposals that aimed at regulating betting industry in Kenya and led to closure of some of gambling sites in the country.

The politician holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Statistics graduate from Kenyatta University.

Before joining politics in 2014, he worked at Fourtell eAfrica from 1995 to 2013. The company specializes in supplying and developing intergrated Information Technology (IT) business solutions.

Elgeyo Marakwet seat fell vacant after the then elected senator Kipchumba Murkomen was sworn in as Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport on October 27, 2022.

Kisang will battle out with other candidates in a by-election slated for January 5, 2022.
