Royal Media Services journalist Betty Akinyi tied the knot in a colorful wedding ceremony on Saturday, November 26.
Akinyi solemnized her marriage to her partner, Sylvester Ajula, in a ceremony held at St. Anthony The Abbot Catholic Church in Ramba, Kisumu County
The ceremony was officiated by the church's father, Papa Felix Randah Atindah.
"It has been a journey but we thank God for this far He has walked with us," Betty shared about her wedding.
The couple thanked their families, friends, and colleagues for supporting them, gracing their occasion as well as making it colorful and successful.
Akinyi works as a digital reporter for both Citizen TV and its sister station Ramogi TV.
The mom of one is equally a fact-checker having been trained by Voice of America and AFP.
The communication and media technology graduate from Maseno University previously worked with Standard Group and UNDP Environmental Governance Programme as an environmental journalist.
During the 2022 General Election, Akinyi unsuccessfully tried to obtain the backing of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for the Kisumu East MP seat.
She thereafter became a fierce campaigner of Prof Anyang' Nyong'o who contested for the Kisumu gubernatorial position.
Akinyi joins the growing list of media personalities including former NTV journalist Namukabo Werunga who recently held her traditional wedding.
Former KTN News anchor, Sharon Momanyi, was also surprised with a wedding proposal at her son's birthday party in October 2022.
