It’s all in a balance of fate and fortune for many Kenyans who have surprisingly become millionaires within a short timeframe.

The lucky ones come in many faces, including jackpot winners, inheritors, and even those who have received timely gifts.

In Kenya’s history, the most admired and popular overnight millionaires are ordinary people, most of whom simply took a leap of faith into their destinies.

Samuel Abisai is the most well-known jackpot winner in Kenya, having won Ksh221 million in a single night of playing in May 2017.

Days after winning the jackpot, Abisai went on a tour in the Netherlands, where he treated himself to a wonderful personal holiday.

Abisai later launched a number of businesses where he partnered with his long-term friends to launch a clothing line.

Gordon Ogada

Gordon Ogada is one of the richest jackpot winners in Kenya. He did shoot into the limelight in October 2018 after bagging the Ksh230 million jackpot.

Ogada’s win remains the biggest-ever jackpot in the country. He immediately put the money to good use by building a new luxurious home in Nyatike village, Migori.

When Ogada won the Ksh230 million Sportpesa jackpot in 2018, his first project was to build a house for his stepmother.

He revealed that his biological mother died in 1997 and his father in 2000, leaving him and his siblings in the care of their stepmother Roselinda.

Ogada also paid school fees for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and improved the welfare of the elderly.

“I put almost all the money into long-term investments. I do not have money just floating like many people want to believe. I am broke most of the time,” he confirmed.

In addition, Ogada admitted to lying to members of the public that he was broke to prevent over-dependence from his allies.

Cosmas Korir

Cosmas Korir won the Ksh208 million jackpot in October 2018.

Immediately after winning the jackpot, Korir went on to spend Ksh12 million on a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 and gave two of his betting partners Ksh5 million each.

“We were three of us, and as usual, we sat down and strategized on the teams we should bet our money on.

“My friends did not have money, so I shared with them Ksh200 so that they could bet on five teams each while I decided to bet on seven teams,” he confirmed.
