The tide has seemingly shifted in the media industry, looking at the past twelve months.

From giant media houses announcing mass layoffs to renowned anchors calling it quits, the landscape has turned a full 360-degree angle, resembling a tidal wave flowing in the sea.

Kenyans.co.ke takes a look at news anchors who tendered their resignations in 2022.

Former Citizen TV sports anchor Bernard Ndong called it quits on June 25, 2022, after working at the Kilimani-based media for 13 years.

He made the announcement with a heartfelt message to viewers in which he reflected on his tenure at the station. Days later, he announced his comeback on the screens, hosting NTV's Sport-on every Monday.

His counterpart, Mukami Wambora also left the station, albeit tacitly. Wambora quietly exited the station in October 2022, without any fanfare - with many fans wondering why she had not been on air for weeks.

Former NTV's Daniel Mule also announced his departure from the Kimathi Street-based station in January 2022, with a farewell to his colleagues.

Nation Media Group's recent firing of Mark Masai and Dennis Okari has also made headlines over the station's move to edge out the duo.

Celebrated former KTN News anchor, Brenda Kerubo, on July 13, 2022, exited the Mombasa Road-based media house after three years.

The news anchor later revealed that she had enrolled in a master's program in Journalism, Media and Globalisation at Aarhus University in Denmark.

Her counterpart, Aby Agina, also tendered his resignation at KTN for a bigger role at the multinational station CNBC Africa.

Agina, who kicked off his career in 2010 as an information officer at the Kenya Red Cross, had amassed three years at the station.

Other anchors who have resigned from KTN within 2022 include Brian George and Sharon Momanyi among others.

Currently, the station is said to be in crisis mode following the exit of its star journalists as it struggles to stay afloat.
