Kenyan traffic marshall, Dennis Mochu Kamau, was ranked among the global breakout stars by the Free Press Journal, the first Indian-owned English daily newspaper.

Through their Wednesday, December 28 publication, Free Press Journal recognised Kamau for controlling traffic flow during the Qatar World Cup.

According to the publication, Kamau's use of red and yellow cards to direct traffic and pedestrians lightened the mood for everyone during the tournament.

He also featured among the most viral photos shared by Indian nationals and even other countries.

In a previous interview, Kamau revealed that the trick helped him direct traffic without arguing with motorists in Qatar during the World Cup football tournament.

"Like now, somebody has gone to the wrong place, using this lane. I try to push him from the other way, that is, when I try to give him the red card," he stated.

"They start. They’re in a hurry and maybe they are tired. But now, I decided to come up with a red card and a yellow card idea. So when the person sees a red card, they are like, ‘Oh, no, don’t give me a red card,’ and he goes," Kamau added.

Besides the traffic cop, Abubakr Abass, famously known as Metro Guy, was also ranked among the breakout stars who went viral by the first Indian-owned English daily newspaper.

Abbas became a global sensation after his videos directing visitors at a metro station in Qatar went viral.

In the videos, he appeared perched atop a lifeguard-Esque chair, with a foam finger in one hand and a megaphone in another, shouting "metro, metro, metro" to the passing fans.

According to Free Press Journal, Abbas went viral in India and globally.

Due to his kind gesture, Abbas received life-changing deals from various brands and Qatar government officials.

Free Press Journal ranks breakout stars to celebrate their societal contribution and influence. It was established in 1928 mainly to cover world war II.

It later established offices in London, Cairo, and New York to engage top newsmen in several countries.
