Former Tharaka Nithi Senatorial aspirant, Francis Kiambi, was found dead at his home in Nairobi's Karen estate after a night out with his wife and other relatives.

In a police report seen by Kenyans.co.ke, it was reported that the wife found her husband's body at 6 am on Monday, January 9.

According to the police, the couple slept in separate rooms after a disagreement over a Ksh2 billion loan he was planning to take.

"The couple had some domestic differences since the reportee had refused to guarantee the deceased a loan of Ksh2 billion which he intended to take to open a business," read the report in part.

The police report indicated that Kiambi's wife noticed that something was a miss on Monday morning after she could not hear the husband snoring.

Upon reaching the room, she discovered that her husband could not respond and had reportedly vomited.

"They called a doctor from Karen Hospital who confirmed the death at around 0902hrs. The scene was visited by the police and processed. The body had no visible injuries," the police indicated.

Police further revealed that they had commenced investigations into the incident to unravel what had happened.

Following his death, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki mourned Kiambi as an iconic businessman who inspired many generations having contested in the polls together.

"We are poorer as a people without this brave and selfless leader. Matanka's leadership, towering personality and generosity will be missed by many, particularly the Tharaka community among whom he had made life-changing and impactful investments," The CS stated.

Kiambi vied for the Tharaka Nithi senatorial seat in 2017.
