Former Bahati Member of Parliament(MP) Kimani Ngunjiri revealed conditions set by Azimio la Umoja party leader Raila Odinga that eliminated the possibility of reaching an agreement with President Wiliam Ruto.

Ngunjiri made the revelation on Tuesday, January 24, during an interview with Kameme TV where he explained that Raila demanded an equal share in the government should Ruto agree to a handshake arrangement.

A lot of decisions have been made, and even a meeting was arranged with Raila who demanded that the country be shared equally, a half for him and a half for Ruto,” the former lawmaker stated.

Ngunjiri further added that the former Prime Minister asked to be given his own ministers to serve under him.

“He wants to be given some Cabinet Secretaries and Permanent Secretaries but Ruto feels he cannot share what he has because he won legally while Raila lost,” he continued.

The former MP noted that Ruto was always willing to come to a consensus with the opposition leader but is cautious of the latter's history of ruining parties.

“I usually hold conversations with Ruto and sometimes he wants to have seating with Raila but he tells me, if we bring him to the government he will destroy it.

Remember when he was part of Kanu, he almost killed it. Look at what he did in the previous regime of Uhuru Kenyatta, history betrays him,” Ngunjiri added.

Ngunjiri further noted that Raila has never been in a position where he showed leadership qualities referring to the harsh words he used during the Monday, January 23 Kamukunji rally together with his allies.

The Azimio leader launched an onslaught on the government calling out Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua whom he said was not born when Mau Mau was fighting for independence and hence should stop associating himself with the freedom fighters for political expedience.

“We are trying to correct the economy but look at Raila he has stated bringing demonstrations. Raila cannot lead the nation, look at the kind of words he uses that Gachagua was licking Moi for power.

Babu Owino, a very young man, sent a message that anyone who would come across Chebukati to inform him so that he can deal with him, that is even threatening someone's life,” stated Ngunjiri.

The ex-MP made it clear that Ruto was working uniquely compared to all other presidents who served before him as he has been appointing people who were on the opposition in various government slots.

“A good example is Foreign Affairs CS Alfred Mutua who had been accusing Ruto for a long time of threatening his life. He stated that he wanted to kill him after a firm handshake but now he is now a minister,” he uttered.
