The Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, shared findings of the investigations carried out on the alleged police raid on former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's home.

On Thursday, February 9, Amin dispelled the claims, echoing earlier stances by the state that no government agency was deployed to Matiang'i's home.

According to the DCI boss, investigations uncovered a well-orchestrated plot to create tension through misinformation.

Amin asserted that none of the cases under investigation had reached the stage, which requires the assistance or attendance of Dr Matiang'i.

"Our preliminary findings have uncovered evidence of a well-coordinated and deliberate attempt to spread false information and incite public fear, unfortunately, spearheaded by a person of the standing of a former Interior Security Cabinet Secretary," the DCI stated while denouncing the reports.

While detailing the events that unfolded on Wednesday night, February 8, DCI Amin noted that Matiang'i had informed his guards that he was expecting guests comprising lawyers and a group of politicians.

He reportedly instructed the guards to grant the lawyers access to his home upon arrival.

In addition, Amin noted that the former CS had apprised his security guards of an impending arrest and ordered them to lock out the press from his compound.

"At around 9.30 pm, Odinga and his team left Matiang'i's home to go and join the lawyers In the Press Conference.

Matiang'i then informed the guards that police would be arriving accompanied by the media to arrest him and instructed them to allow the police access to the home but to lock out the press," the statement read.

The statement further noted that Odinga’s communication team alerted media houses which prompted the quick reaction and subsequently caused the nationwide alarm.

He further faulted the media for rushing to publish the reports without conducting the necessary checks to ascertain the concreteness of the matter.

The investigative unit confirmed that further investigations were underway to unravel the fine details of the claims and allow room for subsequent action against involved culprits.
