Nandi Senator Samson Cherergei on Wednesday, February 22 called on President William Ruto to kick out all Azimio-leaning officials in government.

Speaking during a mid-morning show at Spice FM, Cherargei argued that the officials needed to be ejected as they did not support President Ruto’s ascendancy to power.

“In this government, there are still very many remnants of Azimio One Kenya Alliance in senior positions and they should be shown the door. There is no option,” he affirmed.

In his submissions, the Senator asked for replacement of the officials with those who supported Ruto.

"These are people that were known not to respect the President when he was the deputy, they campaigned for the other candidate but how can you serve under me when you did not believe in my vision," he wondered.

Cherargei defended his assertions stating that the purge would reduce the chances of the President being sabotaged.

"Let the remnants of Azimio who are within the system be cleaned so that when the president delivers he does so on a clean slate with people who believe in him. There is no two-way about it," he opined.

Additionally, Cherargei intimated that if Azimio la Umoja had won the elections, they would have done the same thing.

"Even if Azimio had won they would also be cleaning up the system to get the remnants of people who were purported or thought to be friends of William Ruto. That is the tradition,"

His comments came against the backdrop of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealing that the Kenya Kwanza government was a company of shareholders.

Gachagua who spoke in Kericho on February 19, argued that the Kenya Kwanza government would reward its staunch supporters and those who toiled to put the current regime in office and give the least consideration to members of the opposition.

His sentiments elicited backlash with Azimio leader Raila Odinga calling out Gachagua and accusing him of sidelining a section of Kenyans for not voting for President William Ruto.
