Members of Parliament (MPs) and journalists at Inooro TV treated outgoing Citizen TV Political Editor Francis Gachuri to a surprise during a live show.
News anchor Muchoki wa Kariuki accompanied by Embakasi South MP John Kiarie alias KJ, stormed the set with a cake during Kiririmbi Show on Sunday, March 5.
At the time, Gachuri was hosting the Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung'wah and East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega.
The MPs and presenters surrounded Gachuri, who was asked to cut the cake as they broke into a birthday song.
"Gachuri, we celebrate you. While hosting the show you were highly professional and unbiased," KJ remarked.
"I remember when I hosted the show a while back on behalf of Gachuri and I had to call him now and then for directions. Thank you for that," Kariuki stated.
The host was overwhelmed with joy as he shared the cake with his colleagues and hosts. He expressed gratitude to the staff at Inooro TV and Royal Media Services at Large.
"Let me first thank the management here at Royal Media Services, Dr SK Macharia, Gathoni Macharia. Those are our parents here at arms by providing the resources," Gachuri stated.
"I also appreciate RMS Group Managing Director Wachira Waruru, we call him the coach. Working to make sure we are catered for," Gachuri remarked.
He intimated that sustaining a weekly show was not for the fainthearted particularly sourcing for guests to attend the interviews.
The surprise came days after Citizen TV colleagues held a farewell ceremony after the News Gang show where Gachuri was a panellist.
Gachuri bid RMS farewell after nearly two decades at the media house. This followed his appointment as the s the Head of Communications in the Ministry of Interior and Coordination.
