As a young boy, Earnest Mburu accompanied his father on his plumbing tours across Kikuyu Town in Kiambu County.
During his job assignments with his father, Mburu's love for plumbing grew and his career kicked off. In a past interview, the plumber noted that while in class eight, he was already a contractor.
Currently, Earnest Mburu, the founder of KPFC Builders, owns over 40 plumbing shops across the country and has created employment for over 500 youth.
After his high school education, he joined Kabete Polytechnic to sharpen his plumbing skills before he joined the job market.
However, after a few years, Mburu realised that there was a gap in the supply of plumbing materials in the market and decided to venture into the sector.
"I realised that the plumbing hardware business was more lucrative than the service business," he stated.
According to Mburu, he was overwhelmed by the success of his business after a short period prompting him to open several branches.
"Specialising in plumbing at affordable prices, great customer service and a supportive family are among the many factors that have led to the success of the business," the entrepreneur stated.
As a way to empower the youth, the company uses a franchise program allowing others to sell their products in different branches and pay a commission to the company.
The 34-year-old is described as a hard-working man who has the heart of giving back to the community. On March 9, he contributed Ksh200,000 to Affecto Foundation to help keep needy children in school.
Mburu and his company have also been part of several charity events across the country.
KPFC builders offer plumbing materials and fittings, they are both retail and wholesale suppliers.
