Muhindi Mweusi Supermarket in Tassia Estate, Embakasi, on Saturday, March 25, dismissed reports that looters were haunted, compelling them to return looted goods.

The supermarket's management indicated that the viral video only showed individuals helping the outlet recover empty gas cylinders following the Monday, March 20 protests organised by Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga.

Further, it dispelled reports that those who failed to return looted goods were targetted through dark powers.

Nonetheless, the outlet serving Nairobi's Tassia Estate, recorded a Ksh15 million loss.

"Those are just stories. Right now we are done with book taking and we have registered a Ksh15 million loss," Simon Thuo Muhindi Mweusi, the assistant director, told Nation.

"The things that were returned were just a few empty gas cylinders. Nothing else has been returned," he added.

They further refuted claims that those who looted its branch in Mukuru kwa Njenga ran mad after refusing to return stolen goods.

The management responded after a video surfaced online showing reportedly returning goods at Muhindi Mweusi Supermarket a day after the mass looting incident.

Recalling the incident, one of the top bosses indicated that looting started after the outlet was closed due to violent protests.

CCTV cameras showed looters breaking into cash boxes and stealing goods worth Ksh15 million.

"They started by taking the gas cylinders outside the supermarket; 13kg and 6kg gas cylinders were around 40 and 50 cylinders respectively," he stated.

Despite the losses, Muhindi Mweusi Supermarket was reopened, with owners calling for a speedy investigation into the mass looting
