Second Lady Dorcas Rigathi, on Saturday, April 1, was elated after marking 35 years of marriage with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Pastor Dorcas spoke at an event celebrating Bishop William Tuimising and Reverend Rebecca Tuimising on their 50 years of marriage at Deliverance Church International, Langata, Nairobi.
“One of the pillars of my office is 'Chaplaincy and Family Values', and from today's Golden Jubilee celebrations, I am greatly encouraged and wish to encourage all Kenyans that marriage works, but it must be worked on!
“Today’s event is a testament that marriage works, but it must be worked on. At 35 years in marriage, I also look forward to 50 years of marriage and the blessing of many more,” she prayed.
At the event, she also announced her interest in holding mass weddings for police officers.
Guests at the event included Apostle Joe Kayo, Archbishop Arthur Kitonga, Reverend Judy Mbugua, and Bishop Masika.
While celebrating Rigathi’s birthday on February 28, Pastor Dorcas penned her husband a heartwarming message, giving an insight into their happy marriage.
The second lady described the DP as an "extraordinary" father, husband, and family man.
"Today we celebrate a hero, the best husband and a father per extraordinary. With much love, we blow you DP Rigathi Gachagua, our family kisses and hugs, and with much prayers for a long and happy life.
"We wish you a very happy birthday and speak life to you and declare you shall surely age gracefully and in very good health. Happy birthday, Your Excellency the one and only Riggy G," she wished.
In August 2022, she narrated how she met her husband at a function held by then-president Daniel Moi. Pastor Dorcas breached the security and bumped into Rigathi Gachagua.
The DP also praised his wife as a calm person. He recently remarked about his wife's demeanour, even mentioning that he gives her Ksh 3,000 for making her hair.
Pastor Dorcas is renowned for encouraging family values and championing the rights of the boy-child.
