On Wednesday, April 5, law enforcement officers established that June Jerop was picked up by her alleged boyfriend on March 19 in a Mercedes Benz at her apartment in South B, Nairobi.

According to CCTV footage obtained by detectives probing the case, the two were captured driving off to an unknown destination moments later.

The Mercedes was then traced at a local pharmacy in Imara Daima, where the Kenyatta University Master's student was reportedly seen buying medicine.

"Detectives have analysed phone data, and they are piecing together more information to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death. We already know she was murdered, what we want to establish is the motive behind her killing," the police told Nation.

After Imara Daima, where they went with her alleged lover, was not immediately established.

The same night, her alleged boyfriend drove to Bungoma using the same Mercedes he used to pick Jerop up at her apartment in South B.

However, detectives established that he left the car in Bungoma and travelled back using a public service vehicle (PSV).

According to Jerop's sister's account, she left, informing her friends she was going out for a coffee date.

"Her friends told us she informed them that she was going to meet a male friend, but did not disclose much more about it," Jerop's sister stated.

Her lifeless body was later found by pedestrians near Jamhuri Primary School, with preliminary reports indicating that it had several deep bruises inflicted by a sharp or blunt object.

Following the leads, police apprehended several suspects allegedly involved in the murder plot including the man who picked her up.

Detectives also picked samples from the Mercedes Benz which they argued could have been used to ferry the deceased body. They also started interrogating her friends to establish what transpired.
