Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, April 19, outwitted a suspected gang of robbers who were forcefully ejected from their rented house after defying orders.

The early morning raid that was carried out by investigators from the Eldoret DCI office led to the arrest of two robbery-with-violence suspects.

The officers were forced to kick down the door of the house in which the accused suspects were hiding after staging a night-long theft.

"The raid was conducted by detectives based at DCI in Uasin-Gishu and backed up by their counterparts from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau," read part of the DCI report.

The suspected miscreants were found with a Glock pistol loaded with 7 rounds of 9mm calibre at Yamumbi Estate in Eldoret.

The duo was traced after an extensive forensic examination that was conducted by officers from Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau.

They had earlier given police officers hard a time and successfully escaped on a motorbike when they were cornered by the police.

"The two thugs who were on a motorbike had engaged our men in a hide-and-seek game that lasted a few hours last night prompting the sleuths to abandon the chase," the DCI narrated.

Having been earmarked for arrest, the officers changed tact, and instead of going after them, the sleuths decided to lay an ambush on their doorstep.

"Earlier, the two thugs who were on a motorbike had engaged our men in a hide and seek game that lasted a few hours last night, prompting the sleuths to abandon the chase and lay an ambush on their doorstep, instead.

"Immediately after gaining access into the house, a search was conducted leading to the recovery of the firearm, assorted electronic goods suspected to have been stolen, a toy pistol and a bucket containing canabis sativa," added the DCI statement.

The suspects were then placed in custody after positive identification by the use of forensic technologies.
