East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) lawmaker Kanini Kega, on Friday, May 19, announced the expulsion of Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, and Vice Chairman David Murathe from the Jubilee party.
Kega read the findings of a disciplinary committee that heard Murathe and Kioni's cases.
"There are no factions in Jubilee, there is only one Jubilee, the one that has been following the Constitution," Kega stated.
According to Kega, the Committee found Kioni guilty of the following charges; gross misconduct under Article 14 (3). Kioni was accused of disrespecting party organs.
"The charged members by assuming duties which are clear and express provision vested upon other organs and officials of the party.
"He failed and neglected to carry his duties as directed by the party," Kega stated.
Kioni also failed to call a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting since the new regime assumed power, according to the Kega faction allied with President William Ruto.
Murathe was found guilty of the same charges as Kioni.
The EALA MP - also called off the National Delegates Conference (NDC) called by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He noted that the NEC would publish the official dates of the NDC after the party resolved a dispute that was filed before one of the party organs.
"There will be no special NDC on Monday, May 22. The party will advise our members on the date of the special NDC after our finalisation of the dispute before the internal Dispute Resolution Committee," he stated.
Kioni and Murathe were yet to respond to their expulsion at the time of publication.
Kega's faction called for the NEC meeting to strategise on how to counter Uhuru's planned NDC slated for May 22.
The expulsion of Murathe and Kioni deals Uhuru another blow who was denied a chance to host the meeting at Bomas. The management of Bomas explained that the venue was scheduled for renovations.
However, Kioni noted that they were preparing another venue for the event with the delegates expected to be informed of the changes in due course.
"We want to assure the delegates of Jubilee that an NDC will be there on Monday. We have secured another venue, actually two more. It has come to our attention that nefarious individuals purport to collect names for our NDC," he stated then.
