Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni on Friday, May 19, hit out at East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) lawmaker Kanini Kega for expelling him.

Speaking to the media, Kioni maintained that he was still a member of the former ruling party and retained his position as the secretary general.

Nonetheless, he accused the EALA lawmaker and his supporters who included Nominated MP Sabina Chege of disturbing the peace of the party.

Further, the official also hit out at their rivals for disrespecting former President Uhuru Kenyatta - who he argued played a pivotal role in their careers.

Kioni made the statement in reference to the disciplinary actions taken against them by Kega and the summons issued to Uhuru for disciplinary hearings.

“Can you imagine people coming together and calling the former President into a disciplinary committee?

"The person who nominated you to EAL and to Parliament. Who even funded your campaigns when you are running for an MP,” Kioni wondered.

The Jubilee official also maintained that the National Delegates Conference (NDC) scheduled for May 22 would still go on as planned.

Kioni further challenged those opposed to the party for being part of Azimio la Umoja to peacefully shift camp to President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza side.

"If you think it is greener within Kenya Kwanza, go back to the people and have a by-election done and don’t be the con,” he added.

Kioni made his sentiments while attending a requiem mass at St. Austin's Catholic Church in Nairobi alongside Uhuru.

Earlier, Kega expelled Kioni alongside Vice Chairperson David Murathe for gross misconduct and absconding from their duties. The decision was taken after he convened a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

“The Committee found that Jeremiah Kioni is guilty of gross misconduct. Article 14 provides that the lack of respect for the organs of the party is indiscipline. No organ of the party was spared by the member in his disregard, " read the statement in part.

At the presser, Kega also reiterated that Uhuru NDC had been canceled and asked their members to keep off.
